GSHO is a volunteer-based owners’ organization with no fees. Membership requires meeting a membership criteria. We are part of the Mount Vernon Council of Citizens Associations (MVCCA) and seek volunteers to represent Gum Springs Homeowners at MVCCA Zoom meetings. Representatives are needed for these committees:
Owner Individual(s) owning a house or property in the geographic area of Gum Springs as defined in our Bylaws are eligible for membership as an owner with full voting rights. Note: If you own property in Gum Springs but is renting/leasing out the property, use that Gum Springs property address as your address for membership.
There are three membership classes in the Gum Springs Homeowners Organization (GSHO): 1) Owner; 2) Community Stakeholder; and 3) Special Stakeholder (Businesses, Non-profits, Friends & Supporters)
This class of members shall consist of businesses, churches, other faith-based organizations, government, nonprofit organizations, and friends/supporters (to include individuals) of Gum Springs. This class of members shall have restricted voting rights.
To prevent conflicts of interest, anyone who is a member or officeholder in organizations such as the New Gum Springs Civic Association, Gum Springs Community Center Advisory Board, Gum Springs Historical Society/Gum Springs Museum, or Christians in Action for Positive African American Males cannot join GSHO, as outlined in Article III Section 4 of the GSHO bylaws. Membership decisions for GSHO may be approved by the GSHO Board of Advisors.
